About a month and a half ago we released our final prototype and began taking orders for the Mixtape Table. We have had a really amazing response and are so pleased with where we are headed. Jeff also has been helping out some good friends of ours who recently opened a community workspace. The 10,000 square feet of creative space is designed for fabrication, education, professional services, and co-working. Each of these spaces is designed to maximize your creative potential and efficiently turn ideas into reality. The facility will feature classrooms, co-working desk spaces, digital computing stations, 3D printing, laser cutting, wood shop, metal shop, project gallery, an inspiration and materials library, and plenty of white board/war rooms.
In celebration of Fremont First Friday Art Walk, Jeff was asked if he could put together a display documenting his creation process particularly for the Mixtape Table. We were stoked! We had less than a week to put it all together, but figured it was the perfect opportunity to show all 3 prototypes in one space. We exhibited the original reclaimed maple version and the final ply version. In addition, Jeff finished the "practice cut" version (prototype 2) and spray painted it gold. Wow! It was bad ass! The event went super well and we met other makers in the area doing some amazing stuff. Thanks again to MakerHaus and all of our awesome friends who helped out and those who came to support the scene!
All I can say is... WOW! The amount of support, emails and overall love for the Mixtape Table is beyond awesome! We want to thank you so much for all of the nice things you have said about both the table and the designer. Jeff has seriously been thinking, conceptualizing, building and talking about this table since I met him a little over 4 years ago, and I know it was on his brain long before that.
Now, I will introduce myself. My name is Roslyn Hyde, I am a professional graphic designer and partner at Jeff Skierka Designs. I also work with Jeff a lot on conceptualizing and streamlining designs. Jeff, however, is all concept, design and build. I will be taking care of all of the communictions on email and Facebook. If you send a tweet though it's likely Jeff will be "Twittering" you back. He never even knew how to Tweet until yesterday. Ha!
Jeff and I are working to get this table into production as fast as we can. He will be speaking with manufacturers with CNC capabilities, water jet cutters for the glass top, visiting local plywood and hardwood suppliers, among a list of other things over the next couple of weeks. He is planning on having a rough estimate for the plywood Mixtape Table by the end of the week. Jeff will also be creating 1 or 2 more prototypes as well. If you are interested in a hardwood handmade table, those will also be available to order soon.
If you are interested in purchasing or just want to stay in touch, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will do my best to respond to any specific questions you might have and put you on the mailing list. You can also follow progress on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/JeffSkierkaDesigns or through Twitter @SkierkaDesigns. Thank you again for all of your support, we couldn't do this without you! Please enjoy your Memorial Day for us. We'll be hard at work until we get the Mixtape Table out into the world.
Website is up and I am super excited to share my work with the world. This is going to be a great place for me to get my ideas out and receive helpful and inspiring feedback. I will continue to share my progress with you through sketches, photos, prototypes and models (like the above). Please check back soon and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about my work. THANK YOU!
